Kampung Sting is located just around 50kM from Kuching City. This kampung or Village is located right above the clouds. Kampung Sting is actually a resettled Bidayuh village located on higher grounds at the Bengoh mountain in Padawan.
When visiting this place, you can see the majestic view of the Bengoh water catchment and some of the gentle slopes with flora and fauna. Staying overnight in Kampung Sting will surely make you at ease because of the natural sound and environment feelings. With some hot beverage and your favourite instant noodle will add to the extra comfort and relaxation.
How to go there?
The Kampung is not accessible by road so you will need to take a boat ride from Bengoh Dam. How to go to Bengoh Dam? you may ask but fret not that there is a video below to show the journey to the Dam for those who are not familiar with surrounding area.
The Boat ride from the Dam will take roughly 20mins. This Bengoh dam serves as water catchment for Kuching and it is not advisable to hold water based activity to avoid any pollution on the water catchment. Once you reach the jetty under the foot hill of Kampung Sting, you will need to continue hike for another 20mins. Please be informed that the hiking is going uphill so you may need to be ready for this obstacle.
Can we stay there?
Kampung Sting offer place to stay either by Camping or homestay. Here you can experience the traditional life of the Bidayuh living there.
